Profile

I always aspired to become a doctor. Having set my sights on this career from a young age, I enrolled as soon as possible into a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) at the University of Queensland (UQ). After completing this in 2003, I continued at UQ and went on to complete a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2007.

I knew from very early in my medical studies that obstetrics and gynaecology was the right direction for me. This area of medicine has proven to be my passion and I love nothing more than empowering women through supportive and individualised care. What’s more, I am so fortunate to be involved in that special moment where new parents meet their baby for the first time.

As well as bringing qualifications and experience to my practice, I can empathise with my patients on a personal level. I have four younger siblings and two daughters of my own, which gives me a deeper understanding of pregnancy, birth and beyond. I listen to your specific concerns and take the time to understand you so that I can combine experience with evidenced-based practice to build a management plan that is best for you and your goals.

Qualifications

After university, I undertook an internship at Nambour Hospital. I went on to work in many Southeast Queensland hospitals, including the Logan Hospital, QEII Hospital, Mater Mother’s Hospital, and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where I held roles in obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric and adolescent gynaecology, and maternal foetal medicine.

I fulfilled my early career goals by completing a Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 2019. I also hold memberships with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society, Australasian Menopause Society, Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand, and Australian society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Areas of care

I provide care to women of all ages and through different life stages. This includes adolescent gynaecology, planning pregnancy, antenatal care, high-risk or complicated pregnancies, safe birthing and delivery, postnatal care, infertility and pregnancy loss, menopause, sexual dysfunction, and a full range of other reproductive health concerns. By focusing on continuing of care, I can ensure that your care plans take into account all relevant information about your history and goals, to give you the best outcomes. If you have questions or concerns, the most important thing is to raise them and I will find the right support for you, even if it’s not an area of care that I specialise in.

Continuing professional development

I continue my professional development by keeping up to date with evidence-based practice. I attend conferences, read journals and guidelines, and participate in surgical courses. Occasionally I also contribute to guideline documents and teach medical students and junior registrars at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital.

Outside of work

Every career needs life and family balance. I achieve this by enjoying the outdoors and keeping fit, as well as cooking, travelling, and eating great food. I love to do these things with my husband and children.

Billing and fees

My fees are structured to be affordable while still enabling me to provide you with the best quality of care. Greenslopes Obstetrics and Gynaecology has a general fee schedule, which you can request by calling reception on 07 3188 5000 or by emailing info@gsog.com.au.

With private health insurance

You will pay:

  • Known gap for gynaecology
  • No gap for obstetrics

This includes gynaecologic surgery and birthing and delivery. You may still have to pay anaesthetic and paediatric gap fees depending on your situation and health fund.

Without private health insurance

You still have the option to receive private, specialist care, but you will incur higher fees. These will be discussed in detail at your consultation.

Pregnancy management fees

This is an upfront fee that covers the costs associated with your pregnancy outside of your consultations and appointments. That’s things like following up your results or liaising with other members of your health team, and for me being on call 24 hours a day. Our up-to-date pregnancy management fee is provided in our fee schedule.

Please feel welcome to contact me if you have any questions about billing or fees within our practice.
